Why I'm swimming the English Channel

Fulfilling a life long ambition

A question I get asked a lot is ‘WHY, are you doing this?’ Well, I am swimming the English Channel because I don’t want to reach a point in my life and think that I never achieved something simply because I didn’t even try. I realised that nothing but hard training and dedication was stopping me from achieving a life long ambition.

Supporting great charities

Kingston Can - make a donation

Kingston Hospital Cancer Unit Appeal

I know friends, and friends of friends, who have had or died from cancer. It can happen to anyone at any age.
1 in 3 people will get cancer in their lifetime - it will affect most families. The Kingston Hospital Cancer Unit Appeal is a campaign to build and equip a purpose-built, patient-centred dedicated cancer unit for those who require prompt efficient treatment of cancer. They can't make getting cancer any better, but they CAN ensure cancer patients are treated in a modern, purpose built dedicated cancer unit in a sympathetic and caring environment.

RNIB - make a donation

Royal National Institute of the Blind

In January 2003 my mum was diagnosed with diabetes - one of the effects of diabetes is disintegrating vision and blindness. I love life, and do not want to imagine what it would be like if I wasn’t able to see, or how to cope with a blind member in the family.

There are around two million people in the UK with sight problems and RNIB (Royal National Institute of the Blind) is the leading charity offering practical support and information to anyone with a sight problem. RNIB’s pioneering work helps - not just with braille, Talking Books and computer training but with imaginative and practical solutions to everyday challenges.

NSPCC - make a donation

National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children

Children make this world something very magical, a child a heart, I can’t bear the thought that some children haven’t had, or aren’t going to get the opportunity to be carefree, because their lives have been tainted by cruelty from an early stage.
The NSPCC's mission is to end cruelty to children. Their vision is a society in which all children are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential. In other words, a society that will not tolerate child abuse - whether sexual, physical, emotional, or neglect. The NSPCC is the only UK children's charity with statutory powers that enable it to take action to safeguard children at risk of abuse.
